Captured Light
Captured Light was inspired by both my work in digital video and by my work with clarinetist F. Gerard Errante. The term refers to photography and the piece's terrain is the emotional landscape between awaking and dreams. As such the piece is a dreamscape where the clarinetist negotiates between the dreamworld of the synthetic and the warmth of the acoustic clarinet. The piece exists in a solo version with fixed electronics and also in a version with 3D animation on DVD. The images in this version, look at a single imaginary landscape and interprets this by manipulating the light within that environment from a large variety of angles, intensities and materials.
